How my style has evolved over the years

Looking back at how my style has evolved over the years feels deeply connected to how I have evolved. Now in my early forties, I can clearly see how different life phases, such as student life, career beginnings, motherhood, and body changes have shaped not only what I wear, but how I see myself.

In my twenties, style was mostly about exploration. As a fashion student, I was surrounded by creativity and constant change, yet I was never the most experimental one in the room. Even then, I gravitated towards clean lines, simplicity, and pieces that felt wearable rather than statement-driven. Looking back now, I see it was already the foundation of my personal style: quiet, understated, and classic. I just didn’t know how to value it yet.

My first years working in the fashion industry were marked by insecurity. I often felt I wasn’t fashionable enough, bold enough, or “cool” enough. I compared myself constantly and struggled to see that simplicity could be a strength. Instead of trusting my instincts, I tried to measure myself against external expectations.

My thirties brought a completely new chapter. Pregnancy, motherhood, and three postpartum bodies changed everything. Sleep deprivation, playground life, and the mental load of family life plus work on top, left little for much else. But one thing was always important to me- to not lose myself.

After my third child and while building my business as a personal stylist, my approach to style shifted fundamentally. I started focusing on what truly worked for me. My goal became to build a timeless wardrobe that fits my lifestyle, my body, and my personality. I learned to understand my proportions, accept certain changes, and consciously highlight what I love. I began investing in fewer, better pieces and rediscovered how powerful it feels to wear clothes that support you.

Today, in my forties, I feel like I’ve arrived, style-wise. My wardrobe is calm, intentional, and versatile. It reflects who I am and how I live. I no longer dress to impress or to belong. I dress to feel comfortable, confident, and like myself.
This philosophy is exactly what I now pass on to my clients: style doesn’t have to be complicated, loud, or trend-driven. It should make everyday life easier, not harder. It should grow with you, adapt to change, and feel authentic at every stage.
I’m sure my style will continue to evolve in the years to come. But for now, it feels grounded, honest, and true and that’s the best it has ever felt!
