Autumn/Winter 2026: The Colours to Wear This Season

The change of seasons always brings a fresh energy for me, and autumn is definitely one of my favourite seasons for getting dressed. There’s something about the colours, the new textures and, of course, the return of layering that makes a wardrobe feel exciting again.

I’ve been exploring the key colour trends for Autumn/Winter 2026, and what stands out to me this season is how calm yet expressive the palette feels.

It’s not necessarily about being bold from head to toe. Instead, we’re seeing a beautiful balance between grounded, earthy shades and more expressive pops of colour. And perhaps that makes sense right now, when there is already so much noise and craziness happening in the world. I quite like the idea of our wardrobes offering a little sense of calm.

So, let’s take a look at some of the colours that are making an appearance this season and how you can make them work for you.

The Foundation: Earthy Neutrals

We’re seeing rich chocolate and cocoa browns, auburn and deep orange tones, alongside softer cream and off-white. There are also the timeless slate greys and navy, as well as beautiful olive and sage greens.

These colours might not be the ones that immediately grab your attention, but they are the backbone of a versatile wardrobe.

They’re the colours you can wear again and again. They layer beautifully, work across different outfits and make getting dressed that little bit easier.

And personally, I love that they don’t have to feel boring.

For example, a chocolate brown coat with cream trousers paired with olive or navy.

Sometimes the most interesting outfits come from unexpected combinations of colours that you wouldn’t necessarily think to put together.

Pops of Colour

If earthy neutrals aren’t quite enough for you, this season also has plenty to play with.

I’ve noticed the cherry reds, the royal purples and the electric blues are some of the stronger accent colours we’re seeing, and I particularly love them when they’re used as a little surprise within an otherwise understated outfit.

Think a cherry-red knit with chocolate brown trousers.
A flash of electric blue underneath a neutral blazer.
Or a beautiful purple accessory paired with navy or grey.

You don’t need a whole wardrobe of statement colours. Sometimes one piece is enough to completely change an outfit.

And, of course, there’s no need to follow the trends at all.

For me, colour trends are never about telling you what you should wear!

Your wardrobe should still feel like you. You might love mixing bold colours and creating unexpected combinations. You might prefer a monochromatic look. Or perhaps you feel happiest in a wardrobe built around earthy, neutral tones with just the occasional pop of colour. All of those approaches can work beautifully.

The most important thing is to choose the colours that make you feel good and that work with the rest of your wardrobe and your lifestyle!

And if you’re not sure what those colours are, that’s where I can help.

Whether you’re ready for an autumn wardrobe refresh, want to understand which colours work best for you, or simply need some help putting together outfits that feel effortless and personal, I’d love to work with you.
